Bruce Sabian, M.A., LMHC, Founder, Director, Counselor

Together with Gary Steinberg, Bruce co-founded Academy MetroWest in 1994. In addition to his duties as owner,  director, and clinical supervisor, he runs weekly social skills groups, and provides individual counseling and executive function coaching services to children, adolescents, and adults. He facilitates parent support groups for the Asperger Autism Network and also works as a consultant and trainer with schools and organizations on topics such as social skills groups, cooperative play, ADHD, ASD, and other issues. Prior to establishing the Academy MetroWest practice in 1994, Bruce worked as a therapist at the Academy of Physical and Social Development in Newton, MA. While in that position, he created and directed Camp Nonantum, a therapeutic summer program for children with special needs.

Tim Couto, M.A., Counselor

After spending a year with us as a graduate intern and a year working part-time as an assistant, Tim has become a member of our full-time professional counseling staff. He runs weekly activity groups, leads the Minecraft and Among Us groups offered through Academy MetroWest Online and is a co-leader of LARP@AcMW. After obtaining a B.S. in Psychology Tim spent a year working at a regional charter school on Cape Cod both as a substitute teacher and as a teaching assistant for students with learning disabilities. Following the completion of his internship at Academy MetroWest, Tim interned at the Worcester Vet Center as a readjustment counselor for active and retired service members. Tim graduated with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from WJC in May 2018. He is available for children and adolescents interested in individual counseling sessions.

Stew Pruslin, Ed. M, Counselor

Stew brings us a wealth of experience including 13 years as a 3rd grade teacher in North Reading, 7 years as a counselor at the Newton Academy, and 10 years here at Academy MetroWest and our Creative Adventures day camp.  He has over 25 years of youth sports coaching experience, including baseball, basketball, flag football, and soccer in Wellesley, Newton, Natick, North Reading, and Wilmington. He is also a physical education teacher at two schools (including St. Benedict Classical Academy right here in Natick) and runs a peer mentoring program at his school in Salem, NH.  He is available for tutoring here at Academy MetroWest and runs birthday parties here as well.  Stew is exceptionally creative and has an extraordinary ability to connect with children.

Adam Hurley, Counselor

Adam has taken on many roles at Academy MetroWest for over 20 years. Currently, Adam runs our Dungeons and Dragons group as part of Academy MetroWest Online and is the co-leader of LARP@Academy MetroWest. Adam is also a counselor at our Creative Adventures Summer Program and serves as our "de facto" Creative Director.

Daniella Colozzo, M.A., Counselor

Daniella is a school clinician with the Lynn Public Schools. She has previously worked as a school adjustment counselor for Malden Public Schools and as a mental health counselor for Bournewood Health Systems in Brookline, MA. Daniella has a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Lesley University.

Julie Zide, M.Ed, Counselor

Julie is a Special Education Teacher with the Westborough Public Schools. She has been working with students in specialized therapeutic programs for ten years and holds a Masters Degree in Education from Lesley University. During the summers, Julie spends her time working at an overnight camp.

Gary Steinberg

Gary Steinberg,  Founder, Director Emeritus, Consultant

Gary has been working with children in groups that specialize in improving social skills and self esteem for more than thirty years. He has worked extensively with children dealing with the challenges of ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, Anxiety and Mood Disorders, as well as learning based issues. He has developed and implemented many of the activities and techniques that are used in the Academy MetroWest program.Prior to establishing the Academy MetroWest practice in 1994, Gary was a group therapist and the program director at the Academy of Physical and Social Development in Newton for more than 20 years.Gary has retired from his full-time position at Academy MetroWest but continues to work with us as a consultant and  mentor.
